Brett joined Vogel LLP in 2012 and practices in the family law and personal injury law groups.

Brett loves the human aspect of law; she considers the opportunity to help people through stressful, life-altering situations to be a privilege and she takes her responsibilities in this regard seriously. She is known for her empathy and for taking a genuine interest in her clients’ well-being. Brett handles client matters on her own and also acts as co-counsel with other lawyers in the firm, depending on the factors involved in each case. She works hard to earn the trust of her clients and advocates for her clients’ needs using the most appropriate and efficient strategies possible.

Keenly interested in honing her litigation skills, Brett participates in several professional education courses, seminars and conferences in her areas of practice each year. She remains active in the Young Lawyers subsection of the Southern Alberta Branch of the Canadian Bar Association, which she joined after moving to Calgary in 2012, and is also an active member of the Association of Women Lawyers.

Brett grew up in Lethbridge, Alberta. She completed her law degree at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, where she was actively involved in LSLAP, a program dedicated to providing legal services to low income individuals. Prior to law school, Brett at earned an undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of Lethbridge. She was called to the Alberta Bar in 2012.

When she isn’t practicing law, Brett likes to be outside and often heads to the mountains to snowboard. She enjoys travelling and attending legal, business and charitable events in Calgary.

Divorce is not easy, and my situation has been very challenging. Having sound legal counsel and confidence in your lawyer helps to ease the burden some and I am very grateful to Brett Coleman and the Vogel team for the service and care I was given. Brett was very knowledgeable and professional, as well as understanding and compassionate. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Brett again if need be and I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a family lawyer.” – K.K.

When I opened my file I had limited exposure to the legal system. I was not sure to what to expect, but from speaking with people that had been through similar situations I was prepared for the worst. In my initial consultation with Brett Coleman, any reservations I had about the process were virtually eliminated. From beginning to end my lawyer and her assistant were professional and informative. In emotional situations we tend to think with our emotions, and Brett acknowledged that while providing me with my legal options. I felt as though I was part of the process, and had a say in the proceedings. Both Brett and her assistant were prompt in answering any questions that I had, and were extremely transparent throughout. I have since spoken to people that have dealt with lawyers on both sides of a divorce case, and I am 100% convinced from a legal standpoint I had a very positive experience.” – C.L.
